100% Kona Coffee Organically Grown

Blessed be the goats wandering the African plains at the dawn of humanity, for without their curiosity and hunger, the coffee bean would have never been discovered by the Ethiopian herdsmen. And life as we know it would be impossible. The morning rush to get the kids to school, and us to work, would be inconceivable without that first cup. These herdsmen grazed their goats among the wild coffee trees. In addition to eating the tall grass, the goats nibbled on the trees' berries and leaves. To the herdsmen amazement, their goats became more active, remaining awake long into the night. It wasn't long before the herdsmen themselves were nibbling the same leaves and berries in order to experience the unique stamina that would change their world. Soon the herd tribes were using the properties of coffee in wine and medicine. Undeniably, the coffee tree is one of nature's most sublime gifts.

Kona Coffee Flowers from Hawaii KonaThis miraculous bean made it’s way out of the region as a beverage in the 1300's. The popularity of the drink delivered the coffee tree into the New World. Though tea was the beverage that most colonists drank before the revolution, coffee soon became a symbol of liberation and freedom. Introduced in 1668, Americans drank coffee to defy the British. After freedom was achieved, coffee became the beverage of national identity. Today, the United States is the world's largest coffee consumer, with Americans drinking about 400 million cups each day.

Oddly, Hawaii is the only state that produces coffee in a nation defined by the drink. Introduced to the islands of Hawaii as early as 1825 from Brazil, coffee was planted throughout the islands. Unfortunately, the more profitable sugar cane soon replaced the coffee crops except in Kona where rainfall wasn't sufficient for sugar production.

The sugar cane's loss has been the coffee lover's gain. The island's environment is perfect for coffee production. The rich volcanic soil is combined with plentiful rainfall, calm winds, and distinct rainy and dry seasons that provide sufficient cloud cover. The result is a coffee bean with smooth, rich, exotic flavor that is never bitter.

The culture of Kona coffee has a truly multicultural history that has been built upon a strong work ethic, independence, self-sufficiency, and family unity and community cooperation.

My passion is to continue this tradition and grow coffee using organic standards. When I started this journey to the Kona growing region, my goal was to take my love of coffee and establish an estate that would deliver a product that was a testament to its origins on the African plains. I acquired an established coffee farm that hadn't been sprayed with herbicides. This, unfortunately, is a common practice among farmers on the island.

coffee cherry pickingOur efforts on the land produce a superior crop that is consciously grown to serve customers who value organic products. In addition to the strictly regulated agricultural standards by the U.S., our coffee beans are not regularly fumigated with pesticides upon entry to the mainland like all other coffee grown outside the U.S. despite their organically grown certification. We are proud our customers can have a healthier grown gourmet quality coffee that is superior to coffee beans grown in other countries.

We only offer 100% Pure Kona Coffee. Consumers must beware of larger companies combining Kona coffee with lesser quality coffees. Very few people really know the joy of Kona coffee because they have only experienced blends that diminish the bean's unique smooth and rich flavor. Large companies need only add as little as 10% Kona coffee to be able to call their blends "Kona." To ensure you are drinking pure Kona coffee you should buy direct from the source that sells only 100% Pure Kona Coffee. Small private estate labels offer consumers the best quality and value. More importantly, supporting small coffee estate on Kona is supporting a diverse culture and history that celebrates the qualities that define us as Americans.
